A cozy and cute snack featuring tender carrots wrapped in buttery crescent roll dough, baked to a flaky golden crust. Perfect for quick, comforting finger food with a subtle sweet and savory flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 medium-sized fresh carrots, peeled and trimmed into 34 inch sticks
  • 1 tube refrigerated crescent roll dough (e.g., Pillsbury)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Light grind of black pepper
  • Fresh parsley or thyme, finely chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel and trim about 8 medium-sized carrots into 3-4 inch sticks, aiming for uniform thickness.
  3. Toss the carrot sticks in a mixing bowl with 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, a pinch of sea salt, and a light grind of black pepper. Mix well to coat.
  4. Unroll one tube of crescent roll dough onto a clean surface and separate into triangles as per package instructions.
  5. Place a carrot stick near the wide end of each triangle and roll the dough around the carrot, tucking the edges to fully encase it.
  6. Arrange the wrapped carrots seam side down on the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 1 inch apart.
  7. Brush each roll with about 1 tablespoon of melted unsalted butter.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes until the crescent rolls are puffed and golden brown and the carrots are tender when pierced with a fork. Tent with foil if browning too quickly.
  9. Optionally, sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley or thyme once out of the oven.
  10. Let the rolls cool slightly for 5 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use almond flour crescent dough alternatives and watch baking time. For dairy-free, substitute butter with coconut oil or vegan margarine. Blanch carrots for 2 minutes before wrapping if you prefer softer texture. Avoid overcrowding baking sheet to keep crust flaky. Let rolls cool 5 minutes before serving to prevent soggy dough. Brushing extra honey after baking adds a shiny glaze and sweetness.
